his birthday and the beautiful relationship between him and his Mamaw.

My little Mamaw, showing off a cabbage. A strong mountain woman, she
raised six children alone during the depression years. She tended a huge
garden, kept a cow for milk and butter, and chickens for eggs and meat. I am
proud to say that I come from a long line of strong, beautiful, intelligent
mountain women.

A ‘vision’ piece of my Mamaw Beach’s little pink house in Fleming Neon, my
Mamaw Bentley’s little white house, my neighbor’s old garage and Big Shelby
Creek where I grew up. The drawn pink house at the bottom was created by my
granddaughter, Bella, during a drawing lesson at the age of 4. It represents my
beautiful memories of childhood.
